Dog Supplies

We wanted to share some of our best sources for dog supplies.  The first place we turn for all our pet needs isn't the local pet store or veterinarian.  We've found  Doctors Foster and Smith to be our best source for all our pet supplies.  For medicines, flea & tick preventative, collars, leashes, dog bedding, or almost anything else, they're our choice.   They offer competitive pricing - usually cheaper - and fantastic customer service.  (No, we don't get anything in return for saying that.  They have just been a high quality organization for us).

Here's Bailey showing off his dog harness purchased from Doctors Foster and Smith..  Both Max & Bailey are required to wear their harnesses whenever they're aboard.  Where a simple collar would slip over their head or severely choke them during a recovery from the water,  the harnesses, made from strong webbing material,  provide a lifting handle capable of supporting their entire weight -- and it's much cheaper than those that say "marine" on them.  This is just one item that we've bought from them.   (click on the picture for a better view)

Our other favorite source for pet "stuff" is the Three Dog Bakery.  They offer a variety of gift ideas and treats for dogs.  While we use their products for gifts to all our friends with four-legged family, Janet also purchased their cookbook, which has recipes for treats and other dishes for your dogs.  When dog food is tough to find or you want to celebrate that equator crossing, you can whip up some delicious meals for your four-legged crew.  They offer delicacies like:  "poochie pleasin' pretzels", "chicken cat-chiatore", or "chow italiano".  Some of these recipes look good enough for humans.

What makes these places two of our favorites is that they are available by phone, fax, or web and they'll ship all over the world.  That's nice when you have no idea where you'll be and a walk to the local pet store could take hours!  Pricing, in our experience, has been equal to or less than the prices we've found at retail pet stores or veterinarian offices, even with the cost of shipping.
