Great stories! Just found your site and have been enjoying your stories, My wife and I are avid boaters on florida's gulf coast and dream of long range cruising outside of florida. keep up the good work!!
hi folks ; nice to read of your adventures / how you'll enjoyed the passage though the dismal swamp canal / one our volunteer activities / remember the old house on the eastern side north of the feeder canal / radar
Wow Max & Bailey, I am not so sure I like the sound of the astroturf either. I can never decide where to go and I have a whole garden to choose from. Tis different when I am working though, have to go where mummy says, and we don't have time for sniffs! Golden Caesar http://www.k9assistance.co.uk/
Nice refrigerator story. Hope you're enjoying the bahamas.
I enjoy your comments. After graduating a daughter from college we decided to adopt two little boys. They are great but we dream about being empty "nest-ers" and sailing away from it all. About to order a 420, we hope that weekends and a couple of weeks every year give us a sense of connecting with the sea, our selves and the boys with the world. Dick
you have answered evey question we have had about having our two goldens on board. We really enjoyed visiting your site. We forwarded your site to our sons and our breeder. Look forward to future visits.
i've loved your site and your travelling ! My wife and I are preparing our ship to set sail autumn this year from Barcelona. Best luck and good sailings
Excellent website, good information and very well written. Will be transitting Dismal Swamp Canal on 1/11/03 using some of your info. Will re-visit soon. CRS
I loved your website. We are planning to said to the Bahamas leaving MA in August on a 30' Maine catamaran. A first for me, but the fourth for my new husband. We want to set up a website, any suggestions?
Nice to see that you guys are still afloat. I still wanna apply to be the ship's cook (or somethin'!) Ya' gotta see Grimmett's baby; adorable. Happy New Year!
Thank you for all the great info on your website. I have been thinking of living aboard for quite some time, and I believe this year I will take the plunge...well hopefully not literally. Thanks a million, and I will be dropping by now and then for those great tips. Frank.
This looks like a dream come true.
Hey Blaine...good to see you both are having so much fun. You are living the dream many wish they could. Enjoy! P.S. - I'm still out at Glaxo but doing I.T. work now.
Beautiful web site. I wanted to retire your way (on a sailboat) but Jean was adamant that she wouldn't enjoy that. So now we sail the interstate highway system in our 40' Teton towed by a Freightliner FL-60.
I am envious. How are the Keys/Bahamas treating you? What are you using to send/recieve e-mail? How did you train to get into sailing (keep in mind we are a couple of those power-boaters who became interested in sailing while crewing on-board a previous employers J40)? Hope all is well. We look forward to more of your adventures. Clear Sailing to you.
Great web site! Fun and informative.
Great website. We just purchased an IP 380 from Gratitude this summer, and after a great summer cruising the Chesapeake, are beginning to plan some longer offshore cruises. Your writings and photos are an inspiration. By the way, we were the IP that dropped anchor off your bow in Town Creek, Oxford, MD, the week after Labor Day last year. Didn't know until I read your account that you were having generator problems. Sorry we didn't get a chance to visit. Best regards, Hudson Hoen The Belle of Virginia, IP 380-88 Tabbs Creek, White Stone, Virginia
Hi guys, I am in Brazil!!! Come see us....
Greetings from Larry Bishop
A great boat, a beautiful wife and fair winds. You've got it all. As soon as I can figure out the stock market I'll join you on my own boat. If you have any words of wisdom I could use them. Keith Wolfe Indianapolis, IN
We are power boaters, love your site and all of the usful information.
Great website. I picked it up while surfing for info on Fischer Panda gensets. We are looking into installed one in our Voyage 440 "Wild Horses". Might take a second look after reading your problems. You are not the only ones to have problems with this unit. We tried to have the factory install one but they refused as seveal of these units they had installed were having problems. Hope to run into you someday, we are undergoing the same issues with our dog "Bos'n", a black lab mix that has us marina/shorebound almost every night while travleing.
Wonderful site, good pictures, a lot of good information too congratulations. Thank you for the e-mail. Keep sailing the Charbonneau, best luck and good sailings.
Hi Blaine and Janet, I stumbled onto your website while looking at generators. Can't afford one but since I Memphis Belle's out of the water what else is there to do? Jane and Christy abandoned me to go to Tucson for 6 weeks. It's been bitterly cold here and in most of the U.S. I hope your having a great winter. Fair winds and following seas. Gil P.S. Max and Bailey's picture is still on the mantle. Thanks for the Chrstmas card.
Thanks for all the wonderful photos, they help with the 5 degree temps here in PA in January. Great job with the site! Hayden
Enjoyed your web site. Just bought a used Watkins 23(my middle age crazy). My wife and took our basic keelboat course. We plan to get our Golden "Dudley Do-right" and sail the inland waters of Ohio this summer. Really envy you all because the boat's on the trailer and it's too cold. We'll check in on you from time to time. Happy Sailing!
Great Website ! I spotted your site while desperately trying to find a humane and fun way to get our Golden Retriever to Canada from the UK without flying him cargo ! Im still looking but your site made me smile along the way...thanks !
Why did you name your boat(s) with my last name? Isn't your last name Parks? Is it after Toussaint? Please write me back!!!!!
Hi Guys, great to read about your adventures to date. What can I say - you have made the idea of living my dream that little bit more attainable. I sit here at my computer in cold, dark, wet February afternoon in the middle of England wondering, should I or shouldn't I? Well, my mind is made up!I am upping the planning a gear or two. Living aboard my own yacht it is going to be. I will make do with my little junk rigged 22' Caravela for now, but someday, the blue sea yonder will be my backyard. Thanks for your inciteful articles. By the way, hope you do all you can to prove me wrong when I say ''you cannot write to save your bacon''. Cheers, Lawale.
loved reading all the tips on sailing with a dog. we just got a macgregor 26x and we have a 5 year dalmation. thanks so much for all of your info
Love the site. Will check back for more home school info since we are leaving in August for anextened cruise with my 8 year old daughter
Loved your commens and suggestions. A recent amputation has made me reconsider and I am now going full bore to leave Spring of 04. Jim
Hey Jan- Your website is awesome! Looks like you're having the time of your life!! I'm very happy for you! I'll e-mail you about the 20th reunion. Take care! Gina

We have the Dream... Your Pet section is the best I have found. Thanks
We have an IP27-80 and two Boxer Cross dogs weighing about 75 to 80 lbs. We were very interested in your description of caring and provisioning for the"Sea Dogs". OUr guys think that fresh cookies are just about right and could become a salty tradition on board! Cheers Mel and Cathy...and Buddy and Rusty
We will be joining you this summer on the well traveled route south. Fair sailing!
A well written collection of areas for walking dogs. We will be cruising the ICW this fall with 2 westies and appreciate all your information. Our concern is in the Georgia area. Thanks
Finally!!!! A new computer - the old one wouldn't let me in to your website. Really, really old. I'm enjoying the visit
Nice site and interesting stories. Your welcome to check out www.cruisersforum.com where you will find fellow blue water cruisers. Happy cruising, Gisle
You have one of the coolest sites on the web-FAB!! Paul H.
Liked the information on the site. As a online seller of GPS I know how popular GPS is with people who spend lots of time on the water so maybe some reviews or tutorials about GPS would be a good addition to the content. -- your pals at www.mightygps.com
Thanks for the information on quarrantines. It saved me a lot of time looking things up on a slow computer. We are moving to Europe this summer and needed to research our animals. We have 2 cats and 3 dogs. You have provided some very valuable information.
Great Site. You are living the dream .... My dream is a 31 ft Seafarer that I am rebuilding. keep up the great work on the site. Maybe I will see you soon.
Thank you for your many stories and pics. This is by far the best web site I have been on for living aboard. I am land locked in Texas but hope to soon be outa here and into there.
This is a cool web site! It helped me with my project!
HI GUYS hope alls well !!! we're still in charleston. 843 762 3156 give a ring if you head this way!!! Dan & Alicia :)
Isn't Having a dream and than living it just gerat! My wife Karen and have been dreaming of a Key West Vacation for many years. Next month the dream will come true!
I have wanted a dog for years (God, I love'em!), but felt that it would be unfair given my work schedule. Now I have the time, but am planning to go cruising. Given the challenges of cruising with dogs (for both parties), do you think it would be advisable to wait a little longer? PS Enjoyed your site - loved the pictures of the dogs getting a bath!
Hey! I am counting down the days until we come and vist ya'll! We are both SO excited! It seems like the 18th wont ever come but before I know it we will be on our way! Can't wait to see you guys and Max and Bailey too!
very interesting site
this website is very good and it gives you great advice on taking dogs and pets on board
Enjoy reading about your adventures. We have a few more years till we retire, getting close but for now we enjoy sailing our 35' Endurance called Halcyon up and down the coast of Vancouver Island. Lots of good sailing here but a tad cooler than the Keys. See you one day out on the water, perhaps in the Keys!!
This is so cool, you have the same name as me, Ryan charbonneau is such a pimping name, i love it. so i hope you love it to. Your dawg Ryan Charbonneau (same name as you so cool eh)
Realy enjoyed your website. We have 7 years to go before our dream of setting sail to who knows where comes true. In the meantime we enjoy sailing Long Island Sound on Happenstance, our 33' Endeavor. Our mascot is Barnacle, a very active cat who loves the water but offers a whole different set of challenges on board. Although no need to ferry him to shore each evening. Happy cruising!
Blaine, that is one BIG FISH! Those photos are so cool. Great job. Keep writing, keep fishing, keep traveling! Hayden
Enjoyed the pictures of Kathy and Kevin's visit. Kathy's mom Janice
great site keep it up
Thanks for the wonderful website. So well done and entertaining! I'm still a wannabe long distance sailor. I have two young labs that I consider just like children. You give me encouragement that they could come along. I'm accumulating rental real estate to give me some long-term income. Should be ready in about five years. Keep on writing!
Sailed off shore for years with out a pet. Just bought 32 Downeast in San Diego and plan on sailing from there. We have a Jack Russell and enjoyed reading your comments. Looks like we will really be limited to sailing off shore. Thanks again
My big dog Tipstar has raised many comments when I arrive at an anchorage in my little 18' trailer sailer. We both fit in my 6' dinghy and as a result of his 'love' of the sea and am now restoring a 28' keelboat for extended cruising. Reading your tips about pets on board has been good inspiration and valuable. Thanks for those comments. I shall read the rest of your site with interest.
Nice website and nice meeting you guys in George Town '03....hope to see you again. S/V Barefootin
Loved your articles. Especially the pirate adventure. Must have been quite the HIGH!!! PS - I have a stink boat but have always wanted to learn to sail. Maybe someday. Best of luck on the high seas!
You have a really great web site. I'm starting to build a house in Elizabeth City, N.C. on South Creek which is neaqr the southern tip of Goat Island. You'd be welcome to tie up at my place anytime. You'll see my boat, "One Fine Day" from the river. Best, Wes
You have fabulous ideas. I found your site when looking for inventory-taking ideas for groceries. I too sort things into new containers and bags and find it's much more convenient. Most people think I'm crazy as it looks like it takes too much time to organize in this fashion, but I think it's just the opposite and far more efficient. All the best to you!
What a delightful web site! Thank you.
Love your site! Am a wanna-be liveaboard/cruiser planning to set sail in 2006. If you make your way up the Potomac River (Woodbridge, VA), let me know and you'll have a place to stay and some decent meals and perhaps a tour guide for Washington DC.
I have enjoyed your site for over a year now. Thanks. Not only did you help us get our Golden to the Bahamas, you also gave me the incentive to revamp our own web site. Check it out when you are back in the States and have a real internet connection: <a href="http://www.steinwachs.com/">www.steinwachs.com</a> Unfortunately there's not as much boating as on yours... We hope to see you on the west coast of Florida this next winter. Jeff
If anyone out there has not met the Parks, make a point of doing so. You will abosolutely enjoy meeting these guys. find out where they are and hook up with them. We met them in the Bahamas and enjoyed every minute we had together.
We have so enjoyed your website and tagging along on your explorations. And Max & Bailey. What fun to read about them as we have two English Spring Spaniels, Ellie & Murphy. Having briefly owned a Com-Pac 27 some time ago, we yearn to be back on board again. You bring us closer to doing just that. Best Regards, Bill & Kathleen Sampson
Love your website, Got me thinking.. We have a Golden named Kodi. Always wanted to do what your doing..almost have the wife convinced. I'll email you with a link of Kodi's picture.
Hey Blaine and Janet,we enjoyed the web site. Thanks again for the tour of the boat. We ended up in Belhaven this morning but ended up heading home due to the weather. Happy sailing. Roy and Cindy Rucker. Widget...
I found your site about 2 weeks ago and I have read almost every word you have placed on this website. I am new to boating and hungry for knowledge. I am currently in a Piloting class with the Portland Power Squadron. My goal is to do what you are doing. What kind of classes have you two taken? Thanks for a great site. Larry Bever Portland OR.
Great site, we have an IP40 also.
Hey guys, just wanted to leave a note that we are all fine (after a breathtaking trip back to MIA). We will send you pictures of our 4-couple-and-one-dog-day-cruise in a couple of days. Take care. Ronja & Dennis (from Eluthera)
We have just moved onto a Bertram boat with our 3 kids and 1 new puppy. It was great to see that I am not alone in my attempts at repairing the odd things and also to put on that " I know what I am doing face" I will be reading more of your site. Regards Alan Bickham Hong Kong www.thebickhams.com
I was So excited to find your website! We are planning to live out our "dream" in June of 2004 and we are quite concerned about our to dachshunds. There were so many good tips in your site that we had never thought of. Thanks for passing them along.
Great website. Thanks for sharing your ideas and adventures.
Great site with lots of contents. Please visit our (much smaller) at http://beneteauidylle1550.com/ , See you out there in about two years, Chris and Beatrice.
Enjoyed the website! We are landlubbers here in Georgia... but your trip sounds exciting..Have fun!
Thank you so much for your articles and wisdom! We have a Golden Retriever and are just about to embark on purchasing a 37 ft Yacht and wondered how Jessie (The goldie) would go. Looking at your two dogs it looks as if with preparation, stamina and humor we should be fine. Based on the Australian East coast at Brisbane we look forward to many happy days with Jessie Thanks again and good luck on your bike exodus!
Great info on the dog/bathroom issue. We have just started sailing with our 2 yr. old-65 lb. German Shorthaired Pointer, Ceilidh. It is quite frustrating and not at all enjoyable sailing when sshe gets to the point of needing to go to the bathroom. Thank you for your insight.
What a wonderful website!! Jan, I noticed your spices in the T-Fal cookware
picture, .......it looks like they are stowed one on top of the other, with the
top spices not held by the restraining bar. Did you put stickum/velcro on the
lid of the bottom one to hold the top one securely, or are they stowed like that
just when you aren't running? Arrrrrr Cindy "Dancers Dream" Skipper/First

Great website for those of us in the planning stages. I have a Gemini cat (2000 Gemini 105M) and will be crossing over this winter.
came across your site looking for advice on preparations for a voyage...I'm bringing home my newly purchased Sabre 28 from Newburyport, MA to Portland, ME....send me an email if you'd like a Maine sailing contact...and thanks for the checklist! Fair Seas! Tim
Just came across your web-site - love the whole idea of what you did - I had
Cisco in Today so leaving the rat race sounds like the way forward !
Well done for doing it - an inspiration.
Blaine, I met you and Janet in Key West this last year. I believe it was before New Years or somewhere close , we were all getting on the water taxi returning to our boats. Anyway our boat was named "Eastern Point" at the time, a 50 ft Gulfstar sloop, since then we have changed the name and regristered the boat in BVI for tax reasons. The new name is "MISTY BLUE" . We will be leaving Myrtle Beach SC around Dec 1 2003 heading south to points unknown and I was curious what your southbound plans were and what dates you would be passing thru Myrtle Beach ? We (Patsy and I)have been keeping abreast of your travels on SSB and your web site. We would like to travel with a group of large sailing vessels with deep draft and experienced crews. See you on the water....
I have been visiting your web pages for a few days. I have learned a lot! Thanks for taking the time do do it. And please, keep doing it!
I am soooooooo envious! Thank you for maintaining this site!
When in NYC or NJ please e-mail me - I would love to meet you four! Cruising with dogs sounds fabulous, and I have questions that arose from reading your website! This is excellent stuff!
Great web site. Love the recipies. If you are ever down in the
Whitsunday Islands, Australia please look me up.

Wonderful website! My husband, our dog Shakespeare and I pick up our new sailboat at the end of this week. We have powerboated for many years but our dream is offshore sailing. We look forward to reading about your continuing journey.
Thank you for maintaining an excellent web site!
My wife and I have made the decision to live aboard/cruise and are in the
midst of all the planning that is involved. We just love your website. It is so
informative and you guys really get me excited about making the switch. Keep up

First time visiting your website - it's great! More power to you (or should we say sail) for taking on what must be a very time-consuming effort to keep up with such great style! Your IP buddies on hull 125 in Seattle.
Great Site thanks for sharing. I have nine more years until my girls are out of college and then the Admiral and I are headed out with you.
In looking at your photos on the website, we saw one that we also had at
Blackpoint, Exumas on 5/7/02. We have a similar picture with Max, Bailey
and Janet and the local kids. Small world. We were also anchored
there. We returned to the Bahamas in 2003 and will return in 2004.
You have a nice website.

Hi Blaine&Janet--Read about Bailey's near tragedy & so happy it turned out ok. We are grieving terribly-after missing last year in the Bahamas due to Dick's health issues, we left Dinner Key Marina in early June for our long awaited trip. Oliver, our golden, was given raw bacon by a well-meaning cruiser at Double Breasted Cay around June 12th-they said how cute he was jumping up for it-and he had quite a bit before I stopped them. Immediately he got diarrhea, which turned into pancreatitis-and after nursing him for 27 sad days of saline iv's and worsening anemia, we held him while he went to sleep forever at the Marsh Harbour vets-on July 10th.He's buried near a beach on the Sea of Abaco near Cistern Cay. We are devastated! He was our best friend. Know you understand. Anyway, we live vicariously now through your pets on your website. We're in Marsh Harbour right now-took a hurricane mooring in Man O'War for September. Hope will not use it. Rented wireless internet for laptop for 7 days here while Dick is back in the states on business, but mostly use CruiseEmail with ssb and pactor. Hear Blaine occasionally anchoring Cruiseheimers. All the best to you---Carol and Dick-Boo and Annie (cats)-seems odd to leave off Oliver
Great site, took a few days but I think I've read every page!
Oh you savvy characters...excellent work...I've got the Admiral, 2 kiddies
and a crazy rescued weimeraner but we're still on dry land. When I fly down Long
Island Sound this fall on my Rhodes 19 I'll think of you.
cheers,

Me and my girlfriend just recently found your website and have really enjoyed reading all of the stories here. Keep up the good work. By the way, the tips are excellent. You all have some really great ideas. ___ Briam & Jenny ___
GREAT LIFE.. I'M DREAMIN. GREAT WEB SITE. THANKS AND GOOD SAILING.
Thank you for doing such a good job on your web site. My familiy and I are preparing to move aboard and begin cruising soon, and your site has been very helpful.
Careful with the weather coming up the coast.
What a wonderful site. We have just begun our adventure here on the west
coast of Canada and have enjoyed reading of your experiences. We will continue
to check in from time to time to see what new pearls of wisdom you have to
share.
Good Sailing
One of the best sites I've visited. It's a pleasure to see a boat that
is so well maintained and cared for...my hats off to you both.
I have been accused of being too anal when it comes to maintaining Amber, my
Lyle Hess designed Falmouth Cutter. After ten years with her and many long
trips ( one single handed trip to Hawaii in 21 days) she still looks and
operates like the day she was launched.
Again, a great site with sound information, good stories, humor, and adventure.
I wish we could change coasts for a year.
Thanks again.

over-board rescue information. I'm moving up 5ft every few years and plan
on sailing around America in a few years. Still looking for my Captain
<gg>, but my first love is my boat. Keep up the GREAT site,
wonderful writing and all the sharing of your life and sailing. I love

Thank you for the site, My wife and I are looking at a 40ft sailboat and we
to have two dogs (a bloodhound 100lbs and a mix 50lbs) your info was very
helpful. I sent $ your way for the site.
We are 2 1/2 to 3 years from cruising, also with two dogs (shelties), and are
compiling lots of useful info. Your page certainly has a lot of that!!
We currently sail on the Tennessee River between Knoxville and Chattanooga on
our Catalina 34 "Salty Dog". Looking forward to visiting
your site again and again.
Congratulations for your web page, the perfect conditions of your boat, and to
