Just dropping by to see what you've done with the site ... looks great!
Can hardly wait for your pages to be filled and added to. Left our jobs last sumer and started our semi-live aboard adventure on the Great Lakes on our IP35 - Red Sky(with our big grey cat). We're looking at an IP38 on the east coast - but really want another summer on the Great Lakes before we head out to big waters.
Fair Winds and perhaps our courses will cross. (We've spent the last 4 family Thanksgivings on the Outer Banks).
It looks like I will miss the last pig picking. Monday of this week I made plans to take pat to Las Veas on May 19 2000. I will keep in touch...

Rock and Roll!!! Or in your new home, pitch and roll.
Love the picture of Bailey The Dog and the dog-lift/safety info!
Great Website. We met at the Rock Hall Rendezvous. We have a 350 - Arabella. Best wishes and keep us all posted on your adventure.
Great Site!! I really enjoyed every bit of it. The dogs are wonderful and being a people owned by two Westies I know how much pleasure they'll add to your sailing experience. Thanks for including them. The carpet covered board for the compaionway is an idea I want to use. We will be looking forward to "joining you" on your adventures! Blaine and Janet,
Nice touch. We hope that you are having a prosperous new year. Give us a shout if you get back up to the Chesapeake Bay area.
Regards,
Bob and Joanna
It was great to see both of you at the hockey game tonight. I think your decision to retire early is super. If you can avoid working all your life do it. Your trip around the world will be an adventure that you will NEVER forget. Hope to see you in May.
Someone's got way to much free time. Site looks great. But, I don't remember the Dog's using the carpet when we were in South River? Maybe I consumed too much, but I think I remember "Dingy Man" taking two large animals ashore? See you at the marina.

Hi Jan and Blaine, Just wanted to check out your website. Looks like you and Jimmy Buffett might cross paths! Blaine, are you the "son of a son of a sailor"?Jan, are you "the blonde stranger"? e-mail us some time. Sonia is sestroff@mindspring.com. Jeff is jestroff@us.ibm.com. Good luck!
Haven't heard from you. Great website. Hope your preparation are going well. Dave
Hi, we're looking to buy an IP-32 and I contacted Rick Vaughan. He was amazed at my name and gave me your web address. We live in Maryland and hope to be sailing the Chesapeake this Spring with an IP. We also hope to one day retire in Oriental. Small world!
To one great couple. From another Steve Brosnan
Hello - Our 420-10 is due to arrive in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions on electronics or other gear that has served you well. Most sailing will be up and down the Chesapeake.
Way to go!! People tell me I am crazy to talk about retiring by 45 and I ignore them. I am a Computer Programmer here in Ottawa with a dream of the Keys and Carribean. Hope things work out.
Great site! Keep up the good work. We own "Island Time" (IP40-78) in San Diego. You look kind of familiar. We have two labs and a mutt. Dogs rule! (Karen really rules)
I have the pleasure of working with your father, Mr. Harry Parks. He is wonderful and speaks very highly of his son. He was so overwhelmed and proud when he was given the offer of the boat. He even got the Chairman of the Department excited enought to call and look into a boat for himself! Good luck on your voyages!
Just dropped by to check out your site, I heard it was good, that was an understatement. Great job. hope everthing is going well, see you this summer.
haveagreattimeyourmothersfriendinsc

Frank Logan IP35-21 Interlude
Hope to see you on the water somewhere soon.
I just thought I'd drop by and see if there was anything new going on at the SailCharbonneau site. I hope all is going well for you! I am still soooooo jealous!
Thanks for sharing "The Dream." Good luck and Godspeed!
new co-owner of used Packet Cat, dreaming of spending most of the year aboard.
cut off my note in mid sentence! I admire you and your pursuing your dream - if others can do it, maybe I can too? Great web site!
Interested in I.P. 42 or 45 to use as live aboard for cruising east coast and Caribbean starting 2001.
Blaine, Great Web Page! We live in Punta Gorda, Florida and hope to get our (new, to us) Island Packet 40 next week.

"Wonderful" Website and very motivational. I am very excited for you and Janet. All the loving comments from other people are just that for the most part, "with love".
Congratulations and God bless you on your ongoing journey of life.
Be Happy, Carolyn
Hey Blain,
I just want to wish you much success at your new venture. I hope you have much fun and much time to relax. It's been a real pleasure working for you and I hope Mr. Jacobs is as cool a boss as you were.. Well, take care and catch a few fish for me...
Take care,
Shan
Good luck and when your docked in at Beaufort, NC call or email Chris and I. We'd loved to come by and visit or you can come on land and visit us. Have Chris give you our home phone number. I'll be checking in to your website to witnes your new documented experiences. Jamie
Congrats and best of luck to you and yours, Blaine. You've worked hard and deserve as much happiness as you can get, so go for it! You will be sorely missed, but you've proven to us all that it CAN be done! Thanks and best wishes! (P.S. Awesome web site, thanks for sharing.)
Really enjoyed your page(s)...after 15 years practicing maritime law, I'm ready to trade a highrise office for a cockpit cushion..seriously considering an IP-380, so I'm still a wannabe, but getting there quick!! By the way, the page on crusing with pets was real helpful - I have a Jack Russell terrier (terror?) who is becoming a capable 1st mate. Anyway, smooth sailing - I'll be watching for updates (especially on the part about managing your portfolio via email, etc).
Great Web Site !!!! Enjoyed reading about the Dream and the preparation. As one who heard the Dream early on, I admire your tenacity. I am sure that you two will inspire many to work harder at their dreams. I look forward to checking in on your progress. May the wind be always at your back and God Bless. Sorry I will miss the Bon Voyage !

Ruth and I hope to see you sometime after you are formally retired... Take care and happy sailing !!! Always Thank God for your good fortune...
You guys did a great job on site! I'm disappointed that I haven't been able to see the boat yet. I still remember when the dream was still coming into fruition. May the wind, waters, and weather always be in your favor. Best of Luck!!!!
Blaine & Janet; Our very best to you in living your dream. You together made it happen! Happy times to all of you. Best Regards, Tom & Sue
The boat you described to me several years ago sounded wonderful, but my imagination was a poor image of your reality!!!
See you on the 20th!
Hello.... I don't know if you recognize my married name. I just got married last May, my maiden name was Christa Kurpiel. I think that you and my father are cousins so I guess that makes us cousins too. I just wanted to check in on the website, it looks great. I hope you have a wonderful time sailing. Nice web site, hope trip is going well.We have been dreaming of breaking away and doing our "voyage" on land in the motorhome and also starting a web site. Spectrum shut down helping to push us to it. Heard you may do land travel a little, would love to meet up. Sorry we missed the pig, out of town that weekend. We think of you when we cruise Lake Norman(sorry, its in a power boat),have fun and may the wind fill your sails
Haven't met the people that purchased your home. Need to get our dog, Max, out walking....that's the best way to see & meet neighbors. I'm sure your immediate neighbors on Gold Dust miss you. It's been fun looking at your pictures and reading your story. It's still hard to imagine you were able to retire @ 35. Best of luck in your new adventure and I look forward to checking your website to keep up with your story! It's like a real life soap opera.....and no commercials! Hi; considering moving aboard my boyfriends 39 foot power boat but worried I will end up throwing him overboard; any words of wisdom? Enjoying your site; on the appliance thing -- how do you feel about crock pots
Diane
Question: Why did you name the boat charbonneau? It was great reading your story. Thanks, Bob
I am jealous, but the lesson I received from my father resulted in me being a workaholic. Maybe someday i will find acure.
Good luck and good boating.
Jim Howard
I have recently been bitten by the liveaboard bug and have been doing alot of research on the web about it. You're website is very inspirational to say the least. I do have a couple questions if you don't mind.
1. what do you do about mail? 2. how do you maintain your site? do you have to plug in at the marina or is it a wireless connection? 3. do you have any advice for someone who's just realizing the dream? ie..first steps.
IF I HAD ONLY BOUGHT " ZEROX" INSTEAD OF "INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER" GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH TOM
Fair winds Charbonneau and crew. Met you at Waterside Marina (Seven Seas connection). If you return to Norfolk and need anything, don't hesitate to call 462-2646.
IT WAS GREAT FINDING YOU ON YOUR WAY NORTH THE SAME TIME WE WERE MOVING THE BOAT TO DALTIVELLE. NICK AND I HAD A GREAT TIME TRAVLING WITH YOU, AND THANKS FOR DINNER. HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE BOAT SHOW. KEEP IN TOUCH!

We enjoyed you website almost as much as we enjoy your company.
Really enjoyed the web site. Tried to send you an E mail but I don't think it went out, I'll get help on that and get back to you. I'm new to this world of cyberspace. Hope all is well.
Good Morning Blaine & Janet, Cindy & I rafted next to you @ Rock Hall aboard MIAB. Good luck to the two of you. We will check back often to see where in the world you are. Regards, Cindy & Jerry
It was great reading about your start and current adventures. I give you both much kudos for your determination and drive as you went after your dream. I look forward to reading about Baline's, Janet, Max and Bailey's future trisk's around the world. Good Luck and Godspeed. Willie Jacobs PS. Blaine I remember you from Glaxo Wellcome but you may not remember me. That's okay. enjoy
Good to see you in Rockhall. Let us know where you will be moored at the boat show. We are going to Friday nite dinner, you too? Bonnie wants to hear the generator too, since I told her it was quite quiet. Keep in touch. Like your website.
Hi Blain & Janet. I met you when Chuck & Kathy stopped at your mom& dad's house on our way back from Fla. This is Chucks mom. Your house on the water is beautiful. Lots of with it & on your journey's May God bless both of you, Love Donna
Really enjoyed your web site, it helps keep my own dream alive.
Just found your website and will review in detail later today. Noticed Silent Partner II, my,my Gary & Laurie. We know them thru Stella, Terry & Ariel, what a country. We spent some time with them in the BVIs this past winter. They're in Trinidad I think with Stella. Are they coming back to the Virgins? Our boat, Sea Hag, (IP40-12) is on the hard in Virgin Gorda and we are returning in Nov 30 until about May 15. Hoping weddins' and parents health concerns don't require many returns. We were from NJ, sailed out of Gregg Neck on the Sassafras and left in 1994. Presently in FL on the West coast. We are coming to the boat show next and staying in Back Creek on an OC42 (Hinkley look-a-like) named Saga. Our cell # is 941-628-0586, which may work, depending upon its attitude. Our traveling email is dpwark@pocketmail.com. We hope made some nice improvements to Sea Hag that your might be interested in like front access ref door with added shelving. Lets' hook up if your around.
We enjoy your website....and enjoy the stories, including the 'pet' section since we cruise with 2 westies. Have a great trip south, and good 'fall' sailing to both of you! Best Regards,Tom
Great site!
Sandy and I really enjoyed meeting and spending time with the two of you and your crew in Oxford and Anapolis, MD last week. While we aren't planning on living aboard long term, as you do, we'll be making some extended trips on Whistwind and really enjoyed your perspectives and your tutorial on vacuum packing EVERYTHING.
I hope the info I sent, in a separate e-mail, on eliminating battery charger regulator intereference is useful. It seems you just can't have too many battery charging alternatives, as long as they stay out of each other's ways.
Have a wonderful cruise, and here's hoping our paths cross again!
Bill & Sandy Stine
Great Site!
Hi Blaine, This is Wayne Kilthau. We played a little football together in the PI. I've found so many folks from those days. Tommy Powell and his sister Miki, Marina Gouvea and her brother Brian. And now you. Looks like you're doing well. Congrats!
Later,
Wayne
Great to see a fellow (ex)Cisco employee realising his dreams. I hope to follow you in a few years!
We very much enjoyed getting the chance to see and talk with you at the Friday nite party, getting fixed up with Otto's bicycle (following your lead) which we have taken home to Bethesda. As we recollect, this is the period when you took a trip and got some work done on your boat. Let us know when you restart your trip. We really liked your photos and will enjoy tapping in to follow your travels. Good luck and fair sailing. I am sure we will see you again sometime soon. Warmest regards, Otto and Bonnie
Excellent Website design: pretty, informative, and organized. I myself am planning retirement on a 55' catamaran. But I am playing with the idea of building it myself. Either strip-planking or aluminum. Have you considered going this route? If so what material did you considered?
I am also very interested in your opinion as to the amount of money needed. From reading several books the range seems to be at around $1000/month (minimal) to $2000/month (ideal). Oh, one last question. Have you considered catamarans as the vessel of choice for your new way of life?
Everything about them seems to be superior: comfort, stability, performance etc. From your website, I get the impression that you are both very intelligent, well imformed people. Is there something about catamarans I don't know because my heart is set on them. I would really appreciate your
thoughts/opinion.
One last thing (honest): when should I expect your book on cruising to be released? cheers :-)
As a new owners of an IP 380 #40, jalan~jalan, it is great to read of other peoples experience with these wonderful boats.
GREAT WEBSITE! Let me introduct ourselves. We are ol'diving friends of Jim & Wylaine Korbelik and Debbie & Dennis Charbonneau. Wylaine told us about your website and told us to pay it a visit. Enjoy seeing picture of D&D's new house. I also enjoyed photos of your sailboat and adventures. Have a great time! Greg Bowles
