U.S.
Hogs
For Dogs -- The Official Website For Our 2004 Charity Ride Across America
Blaine, Janet, Max
& Bailey took off on a yearlong adventure for charity. Their
2004 Ride Across America to benefit the Guide and Assistance Dog
community was a great success and raised national support. Seeing Max & Bailey
riding around town in their goggles and sidecars certainly stopped
traffic. Check out their site to see for yourself. |
IslandPacketPhotos.com
Our friend and fellow Island Packet Owner, Hayden Cochran, has developed
a great site where Island Packet owners -- or wannabe owners -- can
connect via photos. Owners share photos of their boats, favorite
anchorages, their pets (look for Max & Bailey) and other related
information. Check it out! |
Oriental,
NC's TownDock.Net
Oriental, NC is where we began our adventures. The 'sailing
capital of North Carolina,' it's a sleepy little town, Most of the
residents are transplants; many of them former cruisers. So, you
can imagine that it is a community full of warm, friendly people who are
quick to adopt cruisers as they come in to port. TownDock.Net is
the town's webpage, complete with a harbor-cam and chock-full of
news. |
Fido
Friendly Magazine
Fido
Friendly Magazine, the Travel Sourcebook for your dog,
is geared toward the pet owner traveling with their dogs. They
list Fido Friendly accommodations, doggie daycare, kennels, bark parks
and even Fido Friendly
Restaurants. Each issue includes articles on travel, and profiles on
different areas of interest with topics ranging from choosing a doggie
day care to getting healthy with your pet. We've written several
articles for them and really enjoy their magazine. Subscribe
today! |
Blue
Water Sailing Magazine
Each issue focuses on topics and issues that are of interest to
experienced sailors. We subscribed to them when they were
published in a newsletter format, printed on stock paper. Blue
Water Sailing now fills nearly one hundred glossy pages with articles
and stunning pictures. Look closely and you may see some of our
writing on those pages. |
Noonsite.com
Noonsite.com is the culmination of Jimmy Cornell's 25 years of providing
world cruising information. You'll find current news from cruising
locations around the world, as well as helpful information regarding
clearing in and every other imaginable detail for every cruising port
around the world. If you plan to cruise -- or are cruising now --
this site should be on your list of Favorites. |
Muthuh's
Rides
If you are more attached to land than to the sea, check out this site by
my former boss and good friend, Jay aka Muthuh. The site
chronicles his Harley-riding adventures. His creative talent
brings these rides to life in vivid color. Whether you ride or
not, the site is outstanding. You may even get a glimpse of the
person who encouraged me to live my own life and helped define my
success. |
Seven
Seas Cruising Association
Before or during your life of cruising, the SSCA can offer boat loads of
information on everything from destination info to which equipment works
best for those actually out cruising. They offer a monthly
bulletin chock-full of helpful info written by cruisers who are actually
out there living the life. |
Ed
Hamilton & Company
If you've read the pages on this site, you know that we've learned to
sail by chartering larger boats. For all but one of our trips,
we've gone to Ed Hamilton to book our vacation. Ed & his staff
know the boats personally and provide the best customer support ever
(both before and after the sail). He also has a great "slide
show" depicting both bareboat and crewed charter
experiences. |
Margaritaville
Anyone who
has ever dreamed of running away to the islands has probably done it
with Jimmy Buffett playing in their ears. His music has moved an
entire generation of well-meaning people to give up jobs and head for
tropical paradise. He has been our mentor for many years.
This is his page. |
Three
Dog Bakery
Three Dog
Bakery is a very unique store catering to the whims of our four-legged
canine friends. We stumbled upon them for the first time in New
Orleans (yes, we stumbled in New Orleans). Janet and I have been
great customers every since. If we were continuing to live as dirt
dwellers, Janet would surely open her own franchise. |
Drs.
Foster & Smith
Drs.
Foster & Smith provide a wealth of animal care products for your
pets. They also offer educational info on raising and caring for
your pets. We have found their prices to be extremely reasonable
and usually much less expensive than buying from your local vet. |
Drs.
Foster & Smith Pet Education Pages
Drs.
Foster & Smith provides a free site where you can find information
on pet ailments, common treatments, and a very valuable section on
prescription and over-the-counter medicines for your pet. This is
one of our first stops when we need to determine just how much
Pepto-Bismol to give our dogs or which type of pain reliever can we give
them and at what dosage. If you do any self treatment of your
animals, this is a great site. But, please remember to see your
vet if your pet has a persistent condition. |
SailNet
- The Internet Sailing Community
SailNet.com
has a little of everything for the sailing community. From
products and manufacturers to user forums and education. Its all
there. |
The
Motley Fool
It's finally cool to be a Fool! New to investing?
Experienced, but want a new perspective on investing? These guys
have some interesting things to share with you. They also have a
great online investment primer. |
PartsOnSale.com
This is a great website for marine electronics. We've saved
hundreds of dollars by purchasing through them and/or having other
vendors match their prices. Extremely good for alternative energy
supplies. |
