SailCharbonneau.com -- The Condensed Version

     Editor's Note:  Janet and I are often humbled by the large number of people who stop by our site and then drop us a kind note thanking us for maintaining the site.  We've made many life-long friends through our website and hope to continue the writing and photos as our adventures unfold.  One of the latest couples we've met through the site are the parents of Leo (Thorne) Suplee.  Leo and her husband George cruise aboard their Bayfield 40, Shenandoah, our paths crossing several times over the last three years.  Leo suggested that Gene take a look at our website.  The result has been a new friendship and one of the most unique emails we've ever received.  Gene has boiled down the essence of our site in this rhyming tribute.  If you don't have time to read the entire site, here's the condensed version -- in rhyme -- courtesy of the Thornes.

A CHARBONNEAU TRIBUTE TO

THE STAFF AND CREW

composed by W. E. Gene Thorne, Sr.
I was scanning my computer, a little while back; I hadn't been up too long, away from my sack.
I was searching for something to leave a mental mark,
when I came across the web page, of a family named Parks.
This family consists of Janet, Bailey, Max, and Blaine;
Oh what interesting people, far from being plain.
They took on early retirement, at age of thirty five;
to do things interesting---- the rest of their lives.
Said Blaine to Janet," Let's go sail the seven seas;
I can think of nothing better, so, let's do it together, please "?
So together they looked for a mode of transportation;
and what they came up with, gave them both much ELATION !!!!!!!
They took in a boat show in that old Atlantic City;
they went with open minds, not a trace of self pity.
Seems they kept coming back to a booth  by Island Packet Yachts;
whose unit's speed calculations,  are measured in " knots."
All their units are beautiful, well built, and spacious;
and just to look at them;how neat, trim, and oh so gracious !!
Said Blaine to Janet," I've got one thing to say , dear wife "HONEY",
these are the most expensive boats here, they cost "lottsa " money "!!!
Said Janet to Blaine, " if you want to go to sea with me,
it'll have to be on an I P Y , no matter what the fee" !!!!!!!
So what size should we get, something we could call sporty ???
That's why they settled on a beautiful Island Packet Yacht Forty.
   Now this family consists of another two more;
Four legged crew members, making a total crew of four.
Janet brought to this family, her own sweet tempered " Bailey."
You'll find him in her near vicinity, almost 24 hours daily.
Blaine's contribution, is adventurous Max;
you won't read his writings, he sends out e-mail fax.
These two guys are dark red Golden Retrievers;
Oh what affection they give, to their " master" receivers !!!!
Their' boat Charbonneau, which was Janet's maiden name;
which will go on for years, due to their sailings fame !!!
This family headed " South ", the winter of 2003;
to bask in the Bahamas, which they all four wanted to see.
To go swimming and snorkeling, was all their' wishes;
to do in the winter months, with the tropical fishes !!!
They met while down there, George and  our daugfhter, Leo Suplee;
as nice a sailing couple, you'd ever want to see.
They own and live on the good boat " SHENANDOAH",
not at all like the one that was built by "OLD NOAH."
They're all back stateside now, this June of 2003;
going their separate ways, where-ever that may be.
We wish them fair winds, and of course smooth seas
and their sailings to take them, wherever they please.
I hope your' reading this, hasn't taken too much time.
I tried to make it interesting, using words that would rhyme.
I've attempted to include in this on the moment story
the fulfillment of these folk's fun, loving, retirement, glory.
That old clock on the wall, says I've taken a lot of time
to try to create,this, a story that will rhyme.
So, we'll wind this thing down, with this thing to say;
May the rest of your lives, be filled with good sailing days !!!
Now to all who read this, we include you with the others;
fondly written, by Leo's, Father and Mother.
We bid you "BON VOYAGE " , as we depart from this "scene";
written by the Thorne's Sr., both Murele and Gene. (Sr.)
