Welcome to Sag
Harbor's Visitor Center. We weren't sure this was a very
'welcoming' sign! (8/17/01)
This was how Aaron
felt when we told him that his 7-week cruise was half-over.

This 'Mr. Slate'
yacht was our neighbor at Sag Harbor. We were impressed by the
boat. We were really impressed when their personal helicopter showed
up. And you think we have a good life!?! (8/18/01)
Definition
- Mr. Slate Yacht : Large motor yacht probably owned by someone like Fred
Flinstone's boss
We had
front-row seats for fireworks over the water while anchored in Sag
Harbor, NY. (8/17/01)
We sailed from Sag
Harbor to the Thimble Islands, CT area. This is a very quiet
anchorage (except weekends) with some incredible homes built on small
islands. It almost looked out of place for this area. (8/19/01)
Thimble Island
sunrise. We don't see many sunrises, but this one was worth the getting up
for.(8/19/01)
A few more Long
Island Sound lighthouses that we passed on our way from Oyster Bay to
New York City (8/22/01)
There's something
magical about visiting New York City by water. With all its
hustle-and-bustle, sailing slowly down the East River made us feel like we
were immune to all that racing around. (8/22/01)
Blaine has
purposely avoided seeing the Statue of Liberty on all his travels to New
York. He wanted to see it from the deck of a boat as it would have
been seen by the myriad of immigrants who came to America for a better
life. It was worth the wait!. (8/22/01)
Some pictures of
common NYC sites we took during an evening sail along Manhattan's west
side (8/24/01)
Our good friends
Jolee and Colleen flew into the city and joined us for an evening sail
around NYC. You can see Aaron slaving as crew in the top-left
photo. (8/22/01)
While in
NYC, we got tickets to the David Letterman Show (no photos allowed) and
spent one morning with the Today Show. (8/22/01)
Lucky
us! The Today Show's Friday music guests were Tony Bennett and k.d.
Lang. Nothing like front row seats for this performance!
(8/22/01)
We had just anchored in Atlantic Highlands, Sandy Hook NJ when Janet
saw this in the sky. Aaron took it as a divine sign and headed for
the beer. There was a plane flying overhead spelling 'Heineken' over
and over again. Bet you don't see that everyday! (8/25/01)
