Our friend, JoLee
Southard, joined us in the Dry Tortugas for a few days of relaxation.
She made us envious with her return to Key West via seaplane! The
bottom right picture is of the Dry Tortugas Light located on Loggerhead
Key.

We did some
fishing during Jolee's visit. On our short sail to Loggerhead Key
to snorkel on the Windjammer wreck, we caught three fish. The
first was a 3 1/2' Barracuda (not pictured). The second was a
Jewfish which we returned to the sea (left). And finally, we
caught a large King Mackerel which we kept for dinner! (right)

In addition to the
fish we caught, we traded with local fishermen for some Spiny
Lobster. 7 lobsters cost us a few beers and sodas. What a
deal! The Spiny Lobster is more like a crawfish in that they have
no claws (right). (2/21/01)

Sunrise over Long
Key (left) and sunset beyond Fort Jefferson (bottom). This was our daily view while anchored at Fort
Jefferson. Notice all the palm trees lining the fort. Truly
a remote paradise (if you have fresh water!)

Max and Bailey pose
for pictures in Tortugas paradise. Bottom - Bailey has acquired a taste for
fresh coconut. Here he is enjoying the fruits of his labor -- he
spent two days digging through the coconut husk to reach the meat.

Some pictures from
in and around Ft. Jefferson. The bottom picture is looking out one of
the cannon emplacements. That's 'Charbonneau' in the cannon's field
of view! YIKES! (2/25/01)
