NovaScotiaLunenburgFishermansRenunion1.jpg (174689 bytes)
Lunenburg was hosting their annual Fisherman's Picnic and Reunion while we were there.  Great seafood, good entertainment, and a vibrant maritime tradition.  (8/16/03)

NovaScotiaLunenburgBluenoseII.jpg (177761 bytes)
The pride of Nova Scotia's schoners, The Bluenose II, lies in her homeport of Lunenburg for the festival.  (8/17/03)

NovaScotiaLunenburgRiverportChoir.jpg (157919 bytes)
Our friend, Darby Goode, played in the band for the Riverport Choir, which is made up of all the town's citizens from the school principal to a lineman for the power company -- Darby's hiding behind the keyboard player with her violin.   (8/17/03)

NovaScotiaLunenburgBob.jpg (201202 bytes)
Say hello to Bob.  He lives with his owners in Lunenburg and makes quite a site with his head hanging out of the door.  (8/17/03)
NovaScotiaLunenburgWreaths1.jpg (176149 bytes)
One maritime tradition of this town is the remembering of the fathers and sons lost to the sea in previous years. Here, families are presenting wreaths aboard the T.K. Pierce.  The wreaths were then taken to sea and set afloat in remembrance.  (8/17/03)
NovaScotiaLunenburgFishermansMemorial.jpg (179177 bytes)
The town's memorial to those fishermen and sailors lost at sea.  It was quite unsettling to find my own name among those on these pieces of granite.  (8/17/03)
NovaScotiaLunenburgHarbour1.jpg (159123 bytes)
One last look at Lunenburg from the harbor.  Charbonneau is on the far right.  (8/17/03)

We fell in love with a small island called Little Tancook in Mahone Bay.  From the Ferry terminal in the top left photo to the views and all the friendly people.  (8/20/03)
NovaScotiaHalifaxHarbour.jpg (130074 bytes)
Halifax Harbour as we sailed in on a hazy afternoon.  (8/21/03)

Halifax's top tourist attraction - the Citadel - was a remarkably maintained historic fort complete with characters playing the parts of their ancestors.  (8/22/03)

NovaScotiaOffshoreSailingBlaineBailey.jpg (180301 bytes)
Offshore sailing in Nova Scotia.  That's Blaine in all that fleece.  That's not a peace sign or a 'V' for victory he's signalling in his right hand.  That's a 'V' for 'very damn cold!'  (8/24/03)
