Lunenburg was
hosting their annual Fisherman's Picnic and Reunion while we were
there. Great seafood, good entertainment, and a vibrant maritime

Nova Scotia's schoners, The Bluenose II, lies in her homeport of

Our friend,
Darby Goode, played in the band for the Riverport Choir, which is made
up of all the town's citizens from the school principal to a lineman for
the power company -- Darby's hiding behind the keyboard player with her

Bob. He lives with his owners in Lunenburg and makes quite a site

One maritime
tradition of this town is the remembering of the fathers and sons lost
to the sea in previous years. Here, families are presenting wreaths
aboard the T.K. Pierce. The wreaths were then taken to sea and set
afloat in remembrance. (8/17/03) |

The town's
memorial to those fishermen and sailors lost at sea. It was quite
unsettling to find my own name among those on these pieces of granite.
