Janet and I paid our
respects at Ground Zero, the former site of the World Trade Center's
twin towers. It was a very moving experience. The picture on
the left shows the memorial plaques. The right shows the site as
it looks today. (7/6/03)

A cross mode of
steel I-beams reminds onlookers that many innocent people died here.
(7/6/03)

We also paid a
visit to the NY Stock Exchange. (7/6/03)

Exiting into the
Long Island Sound via Hell Gate on the East River takes you past Riker's
Island prison and a few miles further east you pass this lighthouse --
Execution Rocks. Could there be some relation? We don't
know. (7/8/03) |

Bailey decides
that Blaine makes a good pillow to nap on while underway. Blaine
doesn't look too uncomfortable either. (7/8/03) |

We spent our
first night in the Long Island Sound at the Norwalk, CT visitor's
dock. Norwalk is a great New England town, full of interesting
shops and a diverse choice of restaurants. And yes, we indulged.
(7/8/03) |

The Peck Ledge
light helped guide us out of Norwalk on another gray, foggy morning.
(7/9/03) |

Blaine keeps an
eye on the sails during a rainy sail towards the Thimble Islands, CT.

A look at the
Sag Harbor anchorage from a nearby bridge. (7/11/03)

This picture is
for our friend, and former crewmate, Aaron. Hey Aaron --
they're skywriting about your favorite beer again -- Heineken.
Saw this guy on our sail from Sag Harbor to Block Island. (7/12/03) |

A stop in Block
Island is never complete until you've spent some money with Aldo's
bakery. These folks know their pastries, breads, and other
scrumptious desserts.. (7/12/03) |

We upheld the
Block Island tradition of sailing into and out of the harbor. We
barely squeezed in past the outgoing ferry on the way in. This photo
is proof that we sailed out. (7/13/03)
