One of our favorite anchorages is a little spot just west of the Alligator-Pungo canal on our way through NC.  Here's a photo of a typical sunset there -- now you know why it's a favorite!  (8/25/05)

PasquatankMorning2005_3.jpg (89803 bytes)
Is it St. Patrick's Day?  No, just a pollen covered passage through the last 10 miles of the upper Pasquatank River.  Eerie to see and push through.  (8/27/05)
PasquatankRiverOlderBailey.jpg (81575 bytes)
Bailey enjoys the morning view -- a little older than he was on his last cruise.  (8/27/05)
PasquatankMorning2005_Wildlife.jpg (161881 bytes)
The Pasquatank and Dismal Swamp Canal always offer the opportunity to see wildlife.  Here a small deer has just swam across the river in front of us. (8/27/05)

Janet tends the bow line as we lock into the Dismal Swamp Canal  (8/27/05)

DismalSwamp2005Marker.jpg (203510 bytes)
New stone markers have replaced the older ones that measure the miles through the Dismal Swamp Canal.  (8/27/05)
NCVisitorCenter2005.jpg (181606 bytes)
No Dismal Swamp Canal visit would be complete without a visit to the NC Visitor's Center.  We spent the night at their FREE dock.  (8/28/05)
WelcomeToVirginia2005.jpg (150980 bytes)
A new Welcome To Virginia sign greets us on the Dismal Swamp Canal  (8/28/05)

Deep Creek Lock has a new palm tree growing and lots of shells left from cruising boats as they passed through.  The Deep Creek sign gives distances to some of our favorite places  (8/27/05)
