Janet gets help
from Bailey with lines at the South Mills Lock
|

We had an
unexpected meeting with Don and Nick Bitting -- friends from Oriental NC
-- at the South Mills Lock. It's great to have friends to travel
with!
|

Nick Bitting
(AKA Dinghy Mon) doing what he does best. He is the best dinghy
driver we know. He usually spends the day in the dinghy as we
travel, running ahead to see what's coming next.

The Great Dismal
Swamp Canal route
|

We stopped at
the North Carolina Visitor Center along the Dismal Swamp Canal and took
a side trip by dinghy to Lake Drummond. Don and Nick led the way.
|

The Dismal Swamp
route is notorious for having debris in the water. This is
Blaine's idea of keeping a good lookout -- Driving the boat with
the autopilot remote while relaxing on the foredeck. Tough Life!

Robert.

Meet Robert --
The nicest, most professional Lock Master we know. If you travel
through the Deep Creek Lock, tell him we said hello!
